Groups are stronger than individuals.  This association represents the entire membership for legislative, regulation, public relations, education and zoning situations that individual members, working on their own, would have difficulty accomplishing.  We are your presence and voice with local, state and national governing bodies, officials and regulators.

Benefiting the Industry

 We have been very successful over the years with the Virginia General Assembly, Departments of Housing, Transportation and Taxation.

• We were the first group ever to obtain statewide zoning when, in 1995, legislation was passed requiring all localities to allow individual manufactured home placement in all agricultural zones, under the same conditions as site-built homes.
• Transportation times and sizes of homes being shipped on Virginia’s highways has been broadened over the years.
• The Manufactured Housing Board was created and housed in the Department of Housing.  This is the licensing and regulatory group for the manufactured housing industry in Virginia.  Other states have used our plan as a model for their states.
• Taxes were reduced on modular homes from 3% of the total selling price to 3% of 60% of the selling price taking into account that 60% is about the average cost of materials used to build a modular home.
