Ron Dunlap, President
I started with the Association in 1982 after several years in the retail and manufacturing end of the industry. I had been an area sales manager with Taylor Homes in Troy, NC just prior to taking this job and Virginia had been my territory for 3 years.
We have been very fortunate in our legislative endeavors since 1982. At that time there wasn’t a city or town that allowed a manufactured home on private property except by “special use permit.” The same held true in over 90% of the counties, with the exception of “mobile home parks.” A law change in 1990 and then an amendment in 1995 changed all that and now we enjoy reasonable zoning throughout the state.
During that time period we have also gone for some 12’ wides to 14’ and now 16’ wide sections for our homes. Also, hours of transportation have been greatly increased over the years.
Other than my job, my main interests are my three boys; Jason, currently in the Navy, and Matt and Zach who live with their mother just outside Atlanta. Golf and travel are the other two things I enjoy most.

I began working part time for the Association about 17 years ago and have been full time for 15 years. Before joining VAMMHA, I was involved in the financial planning/insurance industry here in Richmond.
Prior to moving back home to Virginia, I was in the banking industry for many years. When I left I was manager of the wire transfer department of First Union National Bank. I am married and have one son, Doug, by a previous marriage.
